Polycom Headset Compatibility

Polycom publishes a "Headset Compatibility List" for the Soundpoint IP phones, including the vvx models.

Polycom Soundpoint IP Headset Compatibility List

Before you use a headset, you must ensure the headset mode is enabled:

In sipXconfig , choose the phone, then User Preferences, and check the following:

analogHeadsetOption (Default: unchecked)

If checked, an attached DHSG-compatible headset will be used as an electronic hookswitch.

headsetMode (Default: unchecked)

Then the user must enable the headset mode at the handset using the "Preferences" in the user menu to match the Analog Headset type according to the one defined by the manufacturer of the headset with the Polycom model phone you are using.

Note: Not all Polycom phones have a EHS port and can use an EHS cable. Not all headsets offer EHS capabilities.

When the handset and headset agree and you have a EHS cable properly connected, the user can answer/hangup a call from the headset and NO mechanical lifter or button have to be used on the phone to answer a call. The EHS cable is essentially a "signalling" cable to manage call control separately from the audo connection.
