Many devices (phones and gateways) support standard syslog protocol. sipXconfig will attempt to configure managed devices to use syslog to log diagnostic information which can be used to troubleshoot various connectivity and voice quality problems.
syslog server can be located on any machine accessible from the managed devices. You can add address of that server in Devices>Network Parameters>Add syslog server.
You need to send device profiles after syslog IP address is configured or changed, since sipXconfig needs to generate new configuration telling devices where to send syslog messaged.

The most convenient way of configuring syslog is enabling it on the same machine on which sipXecs is installed. In this way files created by syslog become part of sipx-snapshot (accessible from Diagnostics->Snapshot in sipXconfig).

Under *Devices>Network Parameters>Add syslog server enter IP of the primary sipXecs server
Go to *System >Servers >server > services > Configuration and check Use syslog for device logging option.

  • Reboot the sipXecs machine or as a root:

service phonesyslogd restart

  • Send profiles to all devices (phones and gateways)
  • No labels
