Twinkle 1.4.2 Softphone
Configuring Twinkle 1.4.2 for sipXecs
Twinkle is a softphone for Linux with KDE AddressBook integration; it can be compiled without the KDE libraries, and with or without SRTP. It supports multiple profiles and most of the various SIP RFC's.
Grab the Twinkle package from: http://www.twinklephone.com/ and take note of the dependencies.
After installing, launch Twinkle and step through the Audio tuning wizard. Audio settings can be changed post-install by selecting Edit -> System Settings.
Opt to create a Profile using the Editor. Use the tabs on the left to navigate.
User:
Input a name, your User name (sipXecs extension or line or number), Domain (server IP or FQDN); then add your Authentication name (sipXecs user) and Password (sipXecs SIP Password).
SIP Server:
Add your sipXecs server IP or FQDN for Registrar, and check "Register at startup".
Voicemail:
For the voicemail address, input your server's voicemail extension @ server IP or FQDN. MWI Type should be Solicited to have visual indication of MWI. Enter your Mailbox Username (sipXecs extension) and the server IP or FQDN for the Mailbox server.
Transport/NAT:
Select your Transport Protocol from the dropdown, or leave it at Auto. Input any NAT settings as required by your deployment.
Registering:
Save your Profile. Hovering over the yellow star towards the upper right corner of the Twinkle ui provides Registration status. Hovering over the envelope with lips indicates whether you have new voicemail.
