An increasing number of SIP phones and terminal adaptors are plug & play manageable using the sipX sipXecs Configuration Server. For an updated list please refer to the Phone and Gateway Interoperability Portal.
The sipX Configuration Server provides standard default profiles for every managed phone or terminal adaptor. Therefore, in order to configure a phone to register with sipXsipXecs, all you need to do is create the phone with default parameters, assign a user (line) to the newly created device, and generate a profile. After manually rebooting the device it should register with the sipX sipXecs system using the assigned line ID. For phones which support default provisioning, it is not even necessary to create the phone - it will be auto-provisioned when it first connects to sipXecs and then lines can be assigned to it as usual.

Once a phone has successfully registered with the sipX sipXecs system, remote reboot of the phone can either be initiated manually at any time or is triggered automatically everytime every time you create a new profile for the phone.Panel Panel

If a phone is plug & play managed by the sipXecs Configuration Server, its configuration should only be changed through the sipXecs Web interface. Everytime the phone boots, it will load the configuration profile generated by the sipX Configuration Server, overwriting any local changes that might have been made using either the phone top interface or the phone's built-in Web interface. |

For an unmanaged phone to be able to register with the sipXecs system, the credentials (user name and SIP password) from a user that exists in sipXecs have to be manually configured into the phone. You also have to at least configure the SIP Registration Server or Outbound Proxy.
